ShareTHE PROBLEM PEOPLE FACE
In the event of an emergency evacuation from your home, would you leave a family member behind?
Many pet owners must do so when faced with a natural or man-made disaster. People being evacuated from dangerous areas such as wildfires, tornados, flooding and even chemical spills; usually have to leave their animals to fend for themselves. The animals, fearing the unknown, often put themselves in danger of being injured or lost forever.
THE SOLUTION
Founded in 1992, the Animals’ Disaster Team (ADT) is the first all volunteer program in Ohio to help animals and their owners when disasters strike. Under the direction of local emergency rescue authorities and partnering with the American Red Cross and Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), the ADT will respond to provide temporary emergency assistance for all animals in our community. Assistance includes but is not limited to housing, food and basic first aid. In addition we are receiving additional training provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
to better prepare for wide-spread disaster situations.
